Ryan was a four year starter for his high school in Pleasanton, TX earning first team All-District for the Eagles. Following high school Ryan was a four year starter for UTSA, earning First-Team All-Southland Conference outfielder and also doubled as one of the Roadrunner's top starting pitchers. He finished his college career with 27 homeruns which ranked him third on the all-time UTSA homerun list. Ryan was selected by the Reds in the 27th round of the June 2000 MLB draft and played outfield for the Billings Mustangs.
Ryan is currently a full-time firefighter/paramedic for the San Antonio Fire Department. Ryan and his wife Jana reside in Blanco, TX with their two boys Baylor and Carson. He is a 5th generation rancher and enjoys raising cattle, hunting, fishing, and all types of sporting activities. Ryan has been coaching youth sports since his first internship with Kids Sports Network following his graduation from UTSA in the fall of 2000 and enjoys passing on his knowledge to future generations.
