Russell Moldenhauer

Russell is a long time native of Boerne having been born and raised here.  His passion and love for baseball began at the age of two.  Several years later, Russell attended the original Boerne High School and graduated in 2006.  Russell played three years of varsity football and four years of varsity baseball at BHS.  Along with helping BHS win its first baseball state championship, Russell received multiple All-State and All-American honors. After the Championship season in 2004, Russell would be named the 4A/5A State player of the year for Texas.  After Russell’s high school career, the Anaheim Angels took him in the third round of the annual MLB draft.  Instead of taking an early professional contract, Russell chose to attend the University of Texas Longhorns on a baseball scholarship. He would start four seasons at Texas as a DH and outfielder. Russell was named to multiple all-tournament teams, all-conference teams, and was named to the Academic All-American Team after his senior season.  One of Russell’s greatest baseball accomplishments was tying the College World Series tournament homerun record with four in 2009.  Upon finishing his college career, Russell signed a professional contract with the Washington Nationals where he would spend two seasons with the organization. The past three seasons he has played in the independent professional Frontier League. Russell has been an All-Star all three seasons in the Frontier League and even has a home run derby championship under his belt. He has played first base, outfield, and DH during his professional career.  Russell even took his talents overseas to Melbourne, Australia where he helped the Williamstown Wolves win their league championship.
