Coach Thompson

Coach Thompson was drafted out of high school by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 12th round of the 1994 MLB Amateur Draft and pitched in the minors for almost 5 years. After his first stint in short season A ball, he received the Dodgers award for the Most Improved Pitcher during their Arizona Fall League season. Greg’s career was limited by shoulder injuries. He then graduated from West Texas A&M University, where he received his BBA in Finance with an emphasis in Accounting from the T. Boone Pickens College of Business. Coach Thompson is a business owner of an Independent Broker Dealer and Registered Investment Advisory Firm where he is a partner and a wealth manager.

Coach Thompson has coached baseball from the High School level down to tee-ball. Since 1998, Greg has been a private instructor, assistant coach, pitching coach and manager of baseball teams. Most recently, he was the manager of a 12u Super Series Major’s Division State Champion baseball team. Greg has managed over 200 games over the past 3 years including a successful 7-1 record at the 2016 12u National Tournament in Cooperstown New York where his team finished as one of the top teams in the 105 team tournament.

Coach Thompson is heavily involved in the community where he has served or serves with San Antonio Christian School, Chrysalis Ministries, Christian Outdoor Alliance, Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Heritage Children, Bible Study Fellowship, McAllister Park Little League, Mays YMCA & Alamo Heights Rotary. He has always had a great love for the outdoors. His interests include; Football, Basketball, Golf, Bow Hunting, Fishing, Camping & Snow Boarding. Greg has been married to his wife, Ginger, for 17 years and has two sons, Cooper (13) & Jett (11).
